A two-way water valve, also called a 2-way valve or shut-off valve, is a type of valve used to control the flow of water in a plumbing system. It is designed to allow or close water channels, providing on/off control.

A two-way valve usually consists of a valve body, a valve seat, a closing mechanism (such as a disc, ball or plug) and an actuator. The valve body has a channel through which water flows when the valve is open. The valve seat is the sealing surface where the closing mechanism sits to create a tight seal when the valve is closed. The actuator is responsible for moving the closing mechanism to open or close the valve.

When the valve is in the open position, water can flow freely through the valve body, allowing the required flow of water. Twisting or turning the actuator moves the closing channel to the valve seat, closing the channel and stopping the flow of water.

Two-way water valves are commonly used in residential and commercial plumbing applications to control water supply to faucets, toilets, showers and electrical appliances. It is important to easily stop the water flow in case of repair, maintenance or emergency.
